Sad news from the San Francisco Bay Area. Legendary Free Flight Sportsman Henry "Hank" Cole passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12th at the age of 101 and 5 months. Just before his 100th birthday in August of 2021, he contracted a rare form of Shingles that hospitalized him for over six months. He was released to his constant daughter's care at his home in Los Altos, California and was mending as time progressed. Ultimately diagnosed with cancer as well, he finally succumbed. Most sportsmen knew that he was a Hall of Fame member with the Academy of Model Aeronautics, the National Free Flight Society and Society of Antique Modelers. Some are not aware that he also contributed to the success of landing Astronauts on the moon in 1969. May You Rest in Peace my longtime friend.
